Why It Matters

The Financial Literacy Crisis

Most young people enter adulthood without the skills to manage money โ€” and the consequences are real.

76%

of teens feel unprepared to manage their personal finances

$1.77T

in student loan debt across the U.S. โ€” much of it avoidable with better financial education

2 in 3

young adults cannot pass a basic financial literacy quiz

Start Early, Win Big

Financial habits formed in middle and high school carry into adulthood. Students who learn budgeting, saving, and credit management early are far less likely to fall into debt traps, and far more likely to build long-term wealth.

MoneyQuest turns these critical lessons into an engaging space adventure โ€” because the best time to learn about money is before you have to make real decisions with it.

Origin Story

Built by a High School Student

Not a company. Not a publisher. One student who saw a problem and built the solution.

When Rishab Nanduri looked around at his classmates at Oakton High School in Northern Virginia, he noticed something troubling: students were graduating without even the most basic money skills โ€” no idea how credit cards worked, how to build savings, or what compound interest actually meant.

Frustrated by dry textbooks and worksheets that failed to connect with Gen Z, Rishab designed MoneyQuest from the ground up โ€” an immersive, space-themed game that turns every financial concept into an interactive mission. He built it entirely in his free time, outside of school.

To make it permanently free and accessible to every student, he incorporated MoneyQuest as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit โ€” no subscriptions, no hidden fees, no premium tiers. Ever.
